Two steps forward, one step back

I should have anticipated it. The initial restock order, that is. As a new small business owner, I’m learning that thinking one week, two months, half a year (or more) in advance is crucial. But strategic thinking has never been my strong suit. So when our grand opening weekend resulted in hundreds of books flying off our shelves, I had a moment of panic.

Restock as quickly as possible! At Big Hill Books, we’re still learning the book industry ropes. Which means last week’s restock order took three times longer than I’d hoped. But “focus on the positive” has become my mantra. We had hundreds of customers! Enthusiastic, kind, patient customers who understand that we’re still learning the ropes. And for that, I’m very grateful.  ~ Beth
