My love letter to Bryn Mawr

Full disclosure—I’m a self-taught bookseller. Almost everything I’ve learned about bookselling, the book industry and owning an independent shop are things I’ve soaked up like a sponge for only the last eighteen months. There is still so much I don’t know.

Here’s what I do know. To borrow that much-used but beautiful phrase, it takes a village to make a new bookstore come to life. And that village is Bryn Mawr. So many Bryn Mawr neighbors and friends have supported me on this journey. In countless ways, your insights, talents and generously donated time have brought Big Hill Books to this point. I am so grateful to you.

As a small business owner, I understand that Big Hill Books must attract customers from outside our little neighborhood. Again, I’m relying on my fellow Bryn Mawrians (Bryn Martians?). Invite your friends and family from the Twin Cities or out of town. Bring them to the doorstep of Big Hill Books. We’d be honored to make them feel right at home in Bryn Mawr. ~ Beth
